Zinedine Zidane, one of football’s most iconic figures, has finally broken his silence on a return to management, hinting at his dream projects after a hiatus since 2021.
The French legend, who carved his name into history both as a player and as Real Madrid manager, has made it clear that he is waiting for the right opportunity.
Zidane first returned to Real Madrid as a coach following a stellar playing career, which included his unforgettable stint at the Spanish giants.
After guiding Real Madrid Castilla, he was promoted to manage the senior team in January 2016.

Zidane’s Time Away from the Sidelines
During two remarkable spells at the helm, Zidane won three Champions League titles and two La Liga crowns, solidifying his reputation as one of the modern era’s most successful managers.
However, he resigned after a trophyless 2020/21 season, stepping away from management but leaving the football world curious about his next move.
Since then, speculation has linked Zidane with several top positions, including Manchester United, but he has made it clear that he has his sights on a role close to his heart: managing the France national team.
Speaking about his future, Zidane stated, “I will definitely return to coaching. Me at Juventus? I don’t know why it didn’t happen. I always have them in my heart, because they gave me so much. In the future… one of my goals is to coach the French national team. We’ll see.”
Didier Deschamps, who has managed France since 2012 and led the team to World Cup glory in 2018, is expected to step down after next summer’s World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
With his extraordinary record at Real Madrid and a decorated history with France—including winning the 1998 World Cup as a player and the 2000 European Championship—Zidane appears poised to be a natural successor.
While rumors have suggested friction between Zidane and Deschamps, the current France coach dismissed any tension. “Another great preconceived idea,” Deschamps said.
“There is still a lot of respect between us. We spent many years together, and the last time we saw each other, we exchanged and talked well… there is a form of recognition of each other’s success.”
At 53, Zidane is ready to reenter the football world, and whether it’s leading France to future glory or taking on a top European club like Juventus, the football universe is watching closely for what could be one of the most anticipated managerial comebacks of the decade.
