Tensions at the Bernabéu: Five Real Madrid Stars Question Xabi Alonso’s Methods

Five Real Madrid players are reportedly unhappy with head coach Xabi Alonso, despite the Basque guiding Los Blancos to the summit of La Liga after 12 games.

Alonso’s first four months at Real have been solid on paper, with the 15-time European champions winning 10, drawing one, and losing only once in La Liga.

In the Champions League, Real have won three of four matches, suffering a lone 1-0 defeat at Liverpool.

Friction in the Real Madrid’s Dressing Room

Despite the team leading the league with a three-point cushion over Barcelona, not all is smooth at the Santiago Bernabéu.

A 0-0 draw at city rivals Rayo Vallecano highlighted underlying tensions, with reports suggesting several players felt disconnected from Alonso’s methods.

Journalist Mario Calderon noted that key figures like Vinicius Jr., Jude Bellingham, and Thibaut Courtois were not entirely satisfied with the coach’s approach to playing the ball out from the back.

Meanwhile, players such as Fede Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga, who rotate positions, also appeared disengaged.

Calderon points to changes in training methodology as a key factor.

Unlike former boss Carlo Ancelotti, Alonso has implemented highly detailed tactical sessions, including video analysis, drone footage, and intensive drills, leaving some players struggling to adapt.

Club Confidence Remains

Despite the rumblings, club president Florentino Perez remains confident in Alonso’s leadership and methods.

Real Madrid are set to return to La Liga action after the international break with a trip to Elche, offering the squad an opportunity to refocus.

While results remain positive, the question lingers: can Alonso maintain harmony and keep his top players fully committed under his demanding style, or will the tensions grow as the season progresses?
