Liverpool have reportedly been informed of the decision they face regarding Arne Slot’s future after the damaging 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.
The Premier League returned on Saturday following a week off for the final qualifiers of the 2026 World Cup, giving the Reds an opportunity to ease pressure with a home fixture against Sean Dyche’s side.
However, Liverpool’s hopes evaporated as Nottingham Forest secured a convincing 3-0 victory at Anfield, intensifying doubts over the Dutch manager’s position.
The defeat leaves Liverpool 11th in the league, closer to the relegation zone than last season’s title challengers Arsenal, who currently top the table.
In all competitions, Liverpool have now lost eight of their last 11 matches, with five defeats in six Premier League games, prompting calls from supporters for Slot’s removal.

Slot’s Future in the Balance Following Nottingham Forest Defeat
Despite the mounting pressure, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has suggested that Slot still retains enough credit from last season’s title triumph to remain in his role for now.
Redknapp highlighted the impact of Diogo Jota’s tragic death and the challenges of integrating summer signings as contributing factors to Liverpool’s poor form.
Slot himself acknowledged responsibility for the team’s struggles in the post-match press conference. “If things go well or things go bad it’s always my responsibility,” he admitted. “We weren’t able to create enough. I tried to adjust a few things that didn’t really work out. We weren’t able to score a goal. We are in a very bad spell. It’s that simple. We also know in a few days we play Champions League.”
The manager urged his squad to stay focused despite the difficult period. “Keep our head up. Work incredibly hard and try to turn things around. It’s been difficult until now. We have quality players. It’s my job to get the best out of them. I am not at the moment. That’s why I say it’s my responsibility.”
Liverpool now face a critical period where the club’s hierarchy must weigh patience against the risk of further decline, with every upcoming match carrying significant implications for Slot’s tenure.
