Inter Miami’s rise has been a parade of superstars — Messi’s magic, Suárez’s grit, Busquets’ calm, and Rodrigo De Paul’s relentless engine.
And just when you think the squad can’t get any more glittering, Lionel Messi has reportedly placed another name on the table… and it’s a surprising one.
Messi’s New Target: A Speedster in Need of a Revival
According to reports from Fichajes and journalist Florian Plettenberg, Inter Miami are exploring the possibility of signing Timo Werner — the German forward whose Premier League years never quite matched the hype.
Meetings between Werner’s representatives and the club have already taken place, shaping what the reports describe as a “very specific scenario.”
Inter Miami want an attacker with pace, unpredictable movement, and international pedigree — qualities Werner still possesses, even if his career has wavered.

The move fits Miami’s broader offensive rebuild. With several veterans approaching their final chapter, the club believes Werner could become a strategic addition, providing energy and depth alongside Messi’s creative orbit.
Werner’s trajectory has been turbulent. After joining Chelsea in 2020, his Premier League spell struggled to ignite, leading him back to RB Leipzig in 2022.
A loan to Tottenham followed in 2024, yet upon returning to Germany he has featured just once this season.
Leipzig haven’t missed him — soaring to second in the Bundesliga — but Werner’s path forward remains cloudy. A switch to MLS, however, could offer the reset he’s been waiting for.
And if Messi wants him in Miami?
That door suddenly looks wide open.
