Injury Update: Alexander Isak Forced Off as Arne Slot Reacts

Liverpool secured a hard-fought victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening, but attention quickly turned to Alexander Isak after the striker was forced off due to injury.

The Premier League clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium saw Spurs reduced to 10 men in the 33rd minute following a harsh challenge by Xavi Simons on Virgil van Dijk.

In the second half, substitute Isak opened the scoring in the 56th minute, finishing a precise pass from Florian Wirtz. Unfortunately, the Swedish forward suffered a troubling injury shortly after, following a collision with Micky Van de Ven.

Liverpool doubled their lead in the 66th minute thanks to Hugo Ekitike, who outjumped Cristian Romero to score.

Spurs fought back late through Richarlison, but a second yellow for Romero left them down to ten men.

Despite a frantic finish, Liverpool held on to claim three crucial points, moving up to fifth in the Premier League, just behind Chelsea on goal difference.

Alexander Isak Injury Assessment

All eyes were on Isak as he was stretchered off. Football injury expert Physio Scout shared a detailed assessment on social media:

“Alexander Isak had to be subbed off with a leg injury in Liverpool’s clash vs. Spurs. From the initial look, it appears to be an ACL injury, possibly involving the meniscus. Contact was made with the ankle, but the knee was forced into a valgus position, raising concerns for ACL/MCL. He was able to walk off, which likely rules out a lower leg fracture. If it’s ACL: 9+ months recovery.”

Arne Slot’s Reaction

During the post-match press conference, Liverpool manager Arne Slot addressed Isak’s injury, noting:

“If a player scores, gets injured, and cannot continue, that’s never a good sign. We’ll have to wait and see. It’s too soon to make a full assessment, but it’s never ideal when a player has to come off. I subbed Frimpong for tactical reasons, so his situation is fine. As for Isak and Bradley, we’ll monitor them. The positive is we have a week to prepare, so hopefully enough players will be available for next weekend.”

Liverpool will return to Premier League action next Saturday, hosting Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield, hoping to maintain momentum while monitoring the fitness of key players like Isak
