Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been linked with a potential move abroad, with news of his release clause emerging just hours before United face Aston Villa in the Premier League.
The Red Devils are set to continue their campaign on Sunday afternoon at Villa Park, taking on Unai Emery’s Villa side, who have won nine consecutive matches across all competitions.
United, meanwhile, aim to extend their unbeaten run, which currently stands at four matches.
Bruno Fernandes’ Release Clause Details
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Bruno Fernandes’ contract includes a release clause allowing him to leave Manchester United for slightly over €60 million, but the clause only applies to clubs outside the Premier League.
In his latest YouTube update, Romano explained:
“There is a release clause in Bruno Fernandes’ contract, but it is not valid for Premier League clubs. It only applies to foreign clubs, slightly over €60 million.”
This revelation has fueled speculation about potential moves abroad, particularly with interest reportedly coming from Saudi clubs.

Transfer Speculations and Romano’s Insight
Romano clarified that there is currently nothing imminent regarding Fernandes’ departure:
“Nothing is imminent. Nothing is happening at the moment. For the summer transfer window, I would watch for interest from Saudi Arabia, as they may return for Bruno Fernandes. It will ultimately be up to Bruno and Manchester United. Let’s see what happens before or after the World Cup.”
He added:
“Bruno has always been a target for Saudi deal-makers, alongside players like Antonio Rudiger and Mohamed Salah. But as of now, this is not expected to be a January topic.”
Bruno Fernandes’ Own Words
Earlier this season, Fernandes addressed the rumors himself, stating:
“I’ve seen a lot of people talking that I had an agreement to go already next season. If the club has done that agreement, it wasn’t made with me. My agent knows how I work. If he wants to talk to me, it will be after the World Cup. Until then, I won’t speak to anyone.”
The Portuguese midfielder’s comments indicate that, for now, he remains focused on Manchester United while leaving the door open for potential future moves abroad.
