Marcus Rashford has continued to impress on loan at Barcelona, and new developments surrounding manager Hansi Flick could influence the striker’s long-term future at the club.
Rashford joined the Blaugrana on loan this summer after being sidelined at Manchester United and spending the latter part of last season on loan at Aston Villa.
Since moving to Catalonia, he has made an immediate impact, scoring seven goals and providing 11 assists across 23 appearances in all competitions.
Rashford’s Role and Form
Operating both on the left flank and through the centre, Rashford has demonstrated his versatility and appears set to secure a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for next year’s World Cup.
His strong working relationship with Hansi Flick, who has the full backing of the Barcelona board, has further enhanced his performance and integration into the team.
According to BILD via Goal, Barcelona are reportedly preparing a concrete offer to extend Flick’s contract well beyond his current deal, potentially until 2028.
This move would break from the club’s tradition of waiting until season’s end to negotiate managerial extensions and highlights how satisfied the board is with his work.

Barcelona Eye Permanent Deal for Rashford
Barcelona hold an option to make Rashford’s loan move permanent for £28 million. Reports from Mundo Deportivo suggest that his chances of being signed permanently have improved significantly.
The decision may hinge on Rashford’s response once Raphinha returns to full fitness later in the season. The report notes:
“His candidacy to be signed permanently next summer has increased, although his performance in the second half of the season and his reaction to potentially playing less once Raphinha is fully fit remain key factors. Overall, he has adapted extremely well to the club and the team, and there is internal satisfaction with the results of his loan in the first few months of the season.”
Life at Barcelona
Rashford has thrived both on and off the pitch, describing his time at Barcelona as “amazing” and calling it a “huge honour” to play for one of Spain’s biggest clubs.
Sporting director Deco recently told Cadena SER that it is “not the time to make any decision regarding Rashford’s future” but stressed that the club are “happy with him” and pleased to see the forward “contributing a lot to the team.”
Rashford’s stellar loan form under Flick, combined with the manager’s growing influence at the club, suggests that a permanent stay at Barcelona could become a very real possibility ahead of next season.
