Andre Onana Eyes Future After Loan Spell at Trabzonspor

Andre Onana has reportedly already decided on the next step in his career just months after leaving Manchester United for a loan spell at Trabzonspor in Turkey.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper departed Old Trafford following two difficult seasons, during which he lost his place as United’s number one and struggled in key matches, including the Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby that marked his final appearance for the club.

Trabzonspor have made a strong start to the season, currently sitting third in the Turkish league behind Fenerbahce and Galatasaray.

Onana’s loan runs until next summer, after which he is contractually tied to Manchester United until 2028.

Despite this, sources indicate that the goalkeeper is weighing options and remains open to reclaiming the number one spot at United, though that would require taking over from Senne Lammens, who has yet to suffer a defeat since his November debut.

The Cameroonian’s next move may also be influenced by personal and financial factors, as he has dependents in Cameroon.

Clubs in Saudi Arabia appear particularly interested, following the trend of several former Premier League stars moving to the region, including Joao Felix and Darwin Nunez.

Other potential destinations include West Ham in the Premier League, European clubs such as Inter Milan, Juventus, and Bayer Leverkusen, or even a move to Major League Soccer.

While a return to Manchester United remains possible in theory, insiders suggest it is unlikely given competition for the goalkeeper position and prior frustrations over contract negotiations.

Onana’s next choice will be pivotal in defining the next stage of his career.
