Hansi Flick Explains the Extent of Eric and Juan Garcia’s Injuries with Barcelona V. Newcastle

Hansi Flick, head coach of Barcelona, spoke about his team’s emphatic 7-2 victory over Newcastle United in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, emphasizing that the match was challenging despite the large scoreline.

Hansi Flick: Second Half Made the Difference Against Newcastle

Flick pointed out that the team was not at its best in the first half, stating: “We relied too much on direct balls, which caused us to lose some control. Newcastle is a fast team and excels in transitions.” He added, “We discussed during halftime the need to play better against their defensive block, and the third goal was a turning point that restored our control over the game.”

The German coach confirmed that the second half saw a significant improvement in performance, with the team able to control possession and build attacks in an organized manner, allowing them to score consecutive goals.

Substitutions to Monitor Player Fitness

Regarding the substitutions of Juan and Eric Garcia, Flick explained: “We wanted to check on their condition. It’s not too serious, but we are waiting for the final medical results.”

With this big win, Barcelona secured a place in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, where they will face the winner of the tie between Atlético Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, continuing their strong campaign in this season’s competition.
