Liverpool injury and suspension list vs Newcastle United in Premier League 2025-26

Liverpool injury and suspension update ahead of a Newcastle United clash: here are the players ruled out of the Premier League 2025/26 Matchweek 2.

Liverpool are only preparing for their second fixture of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign — yet the clash already carries a heavyweight feel.

The Reds’ visit to Newcastle United is always a headline affair. Their recent meetings at St James’ Park have been packed with drama, and it was the Magpies who came out on top against Arne Slot’s side in last March’s Carabao Cup final.

Liverpool began the defence of their league crown with a 4-2 win over AFC Bournemouth, showcasing their attacking threat but also exposing defensive frailties, as both of the Cherries’ goals came on the counter-attack.

Newcastle, meanwhile, opened their season with a stalemate against Aston Villa. Slot will be well aware of the challenge awaiting his squad at St James’ Park and will be eager to have as many players fit as possible. Here’s the latest on Liverpool’s injury situation:

Slot will head into Monday evening’s second Premier League fixture of the season against Newcastle United without at least four key players.

Liverpool injury and suspension list:-

Jeremie Frimpong – hamstring

The summer recruit from Bayer Leverkusen has made a promising start at Anfield, but his explosive style leaves him susceptible to hamstring issues. He reported discomfort during the Bournemouth game and was substituted after an hour. The Dutchman’s ability to play on suggests the problem isn’t severe, though Liverpool are likely to manage him cautiously in training.

Possible return: Newcastle (A), Monday 25 August.

Conor Bradley – unspecified injury

The Northern Ireland international, who struggled with fitness last season, is sidelined again. While the nature of his current problem hasn’t been revealed, it has ruled him out of the past three matches. Slot does not appear overly worried but will hope for his return soon.

Possible return: Newcastle (A), Monday 25 August.

Ryan Gravenberch – suspension

The midfielder missed both the Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace and the league opener through suspension. Having now served his ban, Gravenberch is available once again.

Possible return: Newcastle (A), Monday 25 August.

Stefan Bajcetic – hamstring

The 20-year-old continues to battle injury troubles that have disrupted his progress since breaking into the first team three years ago. He impressed on loan at Las Palmas last season but required surgery towards the end of the campaign. Although another loan move has been suggested, Slot could decide to keep him for depth.

Possible return: N/A.
