Man United Faces Setback in Race for Elliot Anderson Amid £100m Interest

Manchester United’s pursuit of Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson has hit a roadblock, with reports indicating a January transfer is highly unlikely.

Anderson, 23, has quickly established himself as one of the Premier League’s most promising midfielders, following impressive performances for Nottingham Forest and a standout role in England’s European Under-21 Championship triumph.

His form earned him a first call-up to the senior England squad in August, and he has since been capped six times under Thomas Tuchel, who appears set to include him in England’s first-choice midfield at next summer’s World Cup in North America.

Top Clubs Circle Elliot Anderson Ahead of Potential Summer Move

United have earmarked Anderson as the ideal candidate to bolster their struggling midfield. However, David Ornstein of The Athletic revealed that the midfielder is not pushing for a move during the January window, and Nottingham Forest, with a contract running until 2029, are reluctant to sell mid-season.

The potential fee, estimated between £80-£100 million, also presents a major financial challenge for interested clubs.

While January seems off the table, Ornstein believes the summer could bring a heated transfer race for Anderson, with Manchester City, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Manchester United all reportedly monitoring the situation closely. “There will be enormous interest, and if the right price comes in, Nottingham Forest might have to do business,” Ornstein explained.

Anderson is expected to feature for Forest this Saturday when they host Manchester City at the City Ground, keeping fans eager to see more of the midfielder who could become one of Europe’s most sought-after talents in the coming months.
