Manchester United are reportedly tracking United States men’s national team midfielder Tyler Adams as a potential January signing, with the club seeking an affordable solution to reinforce the center of the pitch.
After heavy summer spending on attacking reinforcements—including Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Šeško—the Red Devils entered the new campaign with an evident imbalance in midfield.
Addressing that issue has become a priority for the club as the winter transfer window approaches.
While younger, high-profile targets such as Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton remain at the top of United’s shortlist, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Adams has emerged as a realistic alternative.
The Bournemouth midfielder is viewed internally as a practical and cost-effective candidate who could eventually succeed Casemiro.
Adams is believed to be valued at around £40 million, a figure Manchester United consider reasonable in the current market.

However, Bournemouth are understood to be determined to keep hold of the 26-year-old, whom they regard as a key part of their squad.
With Antoine Semenyo also attracting interest, the club is reluctant to weaken its core further.
On United’s side, a midfield reshuffle appears likely this winter, with Kobbie Mainoo expected to depart amid growing interest elsewhere.
Adams: “Manchester United Is Something Special”
Ruben Amorim and his coaching staff had only a fleeting glimpse of Adams during Bournemouth’s recent visit to Old Trafford.
The midfielder was forced off after just five minutes due to a knee issue, an unfortunate setback given his long-standing admiration for the stadium and the club.
Speaking previously on the Men in Blazers podcast, Adams described playing at Old Trafford as a unique experience. “It’s a special occasion,” he said. “Walking into Old Trafford changes how you see the game. It’s what you grow up watching.”
Adams also recalled his first appearance at the iconic venue during his time with RB Leipzig, noting that the experience reinforced his desire to play regularly in the Premier League. “Being able to return there and perform well makes it even more exciting,” he added.
The American midfielder, who claimed the Premier League’s Goal of the Month award in November for a stunning long-range effort against Sunderland, will now focus on recovering quickly.
A return to full fitness could yet see him earn another opportunity to make a lasting impression at Old Trafford in the near future.
